US Figure Skating Association CURRICULUM
Snowplow Sam 1 (Ages 3 – 5) | No experience is required. First time on skates. This class familiarizes skaters with skates, ice, balance and moving on the ice. |

Snowplow Sam 2 & 3 (Ages 3 – 5) | Skaters with minimal experience. Marching, forward skating, two foot hops, gliding and snowplow stops. |
Basic 1 & Hockey 1 | Skaters with minimal experience. Marching, forward skating, two foot hops, gliding and snowplow stops. |
Basic 2 & Hockey 2 | Must have passed Basic 1 or Hockey 1. One foot glides, backward skating, backward swizzles, two foot turns. |
Basic 3 | Must have passed Basic 2. Forward stroking, forward and backward pumping on circle, backward one footglides, two foot spins. |
Basic 4 | Must have passed Basic 3. Forward inside and outside edges, forward crossovers, outside three-turns, backward snowplow stops. |
Basic 5 - 8 | Must have passed Basic 4. Skaters will learn more advanced edges and turns, backward crossovers, beginning jumps and spins. |
